Have you ever thought about prospecting for gold? I know I would never find any but I reckon you'd strike lucky 1st time out. Another nice find and a piece of history.

Another strip down. Today it is a Poljot 31681 russian chronograph movement. This movement is strikingly similar to the Valjoux 7734.It was actually a nice movement to work on as it is a well built cam activated chrono. It has three sub-dials, one being for an off-centre seconds hand, another for hour recording and the other for a 30 minute recording hand. Great movement and pics. I was a design/development engr in late 60's/70's when engineering plastics (as opposed to moulding plastics ie toys!) were starting to become more available and cost effective. We looked to replace metal parts to reduce costs or to simplify manufacturing processes. Some of these were truly tough cookies and were tested at very high/low temps and all types of loading, but many of the good ones were difficult to machine. They were often filled with nylon etc for greater strength. Some performed superbly, others were useless! No doubt omega were just being 'on trend'.

If you could do one of your magnificent re-case jobs on it, even I might buy one!
