  1. hello everyone, I live in Mexico city and I consider myself a vintage watch fan! I have a growing collection of vintage. My favs are bulova and Rado vintage. I have always tried to repair my watches but I never had the chance, now I am tryng to learn from Mark's videos and I'm trying. I am very delighted to be with people like you, people who love watches. Thanks

  2. I've just serviced an ETA 2783 using the knowledge gained from Marks videos and this forum and had to publish before and after results , probably not perfect by a long way but to say i'm pleased is an understatement. Thanks all for giving me the knowledge and the confidence to tackle it. Sorry i didn't take pics along the way , i was to busy concentrating lol. Before After

  3. Legarm, With you timegrapher set to auto, if the beat rate comes up as 28800 then your escapement is running too fast. As others have said, this is unlikely to be a mainspring problem unless it is making nasty noises. Check the hairspring. Are any of the coils touching each other? If so, it could be dirty or magnetized (hence the question above about rheumatism bracelets). Also, make sure that the second coil of the hairspring is not touching the regulator boot. If the hairspring is good, i would suggest you check the train count to make sure you have all the right wheels. There is a calculator at the bottom of this page http://www.vintagewatchstraps.com/watchmovement.php. You know the answer should be 21600, so this should help you diagnose which is wrong. S

  4. Here's mine. It was a bit over your budget but it is a Giroxa! No, I'd never heard of them either... I think that's my last attempt with Tapatalk, as I realise it is uploading my images there and shrinking them. What a waste of space. Sent from my XT1039 using Tapatalk

  5. My first chrono teardown was a Landeron 48. These are not expensive and parts are cheap (have a look at Cousins) but, you cannot buy a minute jumper spring or an Incabloc balance so make sure the watch you buy has them in good condition. There are loads on eBay so just wait for one in your price range. Be very careful not to turn the eccentric screws when you strip it as you'll need to adjust the depthing (meshing depth of the gears) again. Hope you get something, Chris Sent from my XT1039 using Tapatalk

  7. Did you replace any parts on the service and did you check what frequency the timegrapher showed? Was the watch working before you serviced it? This calibre can be converted from 3hz to 4hz by swapping the balance, escape wheel and sweep second wheel. Yours should show 21600 on the timegrapher rather than 28800... If you leave the watch on the timegrapher for one minute, does it gain there or only when being worn? S
