  1. So this is my very first project I have decided to tackle and my first posting. If I do anything incorrectly, please let me know and I shall correct it asap. So i decided to fix some old watches i had sitting in a box. I believe this watch is the very first watch I purchased myself, at the Victorinox store in the Garden state mall NJ. If I can fix it , i will donate it to my church to help disadvantaged youth dress for interviews and find jobs. The movement is a Ronda 515 1 jewel. I need a crown and tube for this case. The stem seems as it is intact. The crown is required to put the stem in second position , allowing me to remove the stem. I searched All the mechanical drawing, but i cant find the crown type. Is there a special tool required to remove the tube and is it complicated? the crystal is cracked and heavily scratched. so I will need to replace it How do I determine how to remove the crystal and what type of crystal is it, so I can try to find a replacement Definitely will need a cleaning, so once i figure out best oil solution I will do that. I am curious why the watch doesn't say Victorinox on it? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
  2. Hello all. I recently acquired two (!) Swiss Army 25499 watches in an assortment of non-runners I purchased. I have managed to get one running pretty easily; the other will likely require a new movement. However, the issue is that neither one has a strap, and the strap configuration is a bit funky - originally a notched silicone/rubber strap. The notch is about 15mm, the outer band 23mm. Sourcing an original band for these is well-nigh impossible, as they haven't been produced since (I believe) 2009, and nothing else has the same band. (See image for original configuration) My question is, does anyone have a good suggestion as to what might be a source for a workable, decent-looking alternative? A 15mm strap is just going to be way too small (and likely uncomfortable); nobody seems to make a notched band in 15/23, and I'm not sure the angles in the case are quite 90 degrees, so fit would be fiddly. I have considered a bund strap, but can't even find one of these for 15mm lugs... Thanks for any ideas!
  3. Hello All. I'm a fellow watch enthusiast from the North-East of England. I hope everyone is keeping well. I recently bought myself a cheap watch repair kit, dusted off the old watch storage box and started to giving my watches the attention they required, it's been going quite well so far but do need some guidance with the correct steps of putting the workings and the case back on for my Accurist GMT Grand Complication, hopefully I will do a separate post on this with pics. Anyway hope everyone is having a decent Friday night.
  4. Greetings All, I hope this is not a silly question but I'd like to identify what tool(s) I might need to open this type of screw back watch case (see pic. below). This is an inexpensive Victorinox Swiss Army watch and I really don't want to spend $20-$25 at a Jeweler's to have the battery replaced. I know it's definitely not a snap/pop off case. Thanks, Klimi99
  5. Have 3 watches with Ronda 915, 5 jewel. Fresh 371 Energizer batteries. Two have orange isolators, one does not. Can't get any of the three to work!!! Installing plus up with the crown out. What is the easiest way to check the movement? Use Renata batteries instead? Have changed many batteries over the years but this has me stumped. HELP
