While I await the wearing of my Marvin on Christmas Day, I've been keeping my hand in on eBay... Picked up another Majex - nothing out of the ordinary but quite cheap - and a nice Pierce. Pics below are: (1) Majex face (2) Majex movement (3) Pierce face (4) Pierce movement. I suspect the seconds hand on the Pierce is a replacement, but I'm not too worried at the moment. Pierce made really good movements - this one is Swiss and very nice, but I'm not sure of the calibre. It's stamped with the Pierce name, but that means nothing. I think I can see the figures "29" under the balance - which is not an original Pierce calibre - so there'll be a little detective work to do there at some stage...

It's great to see that you are still on the hunt Will. Another two nice movements, of which I prefer the pierce. I've drawn my horns in since buying your Bunn, I still have a look though.

I've done very little myself - Christmas is with us and so are presents for family - and I've also been forking out for the costs of a CD production run. Me and my mate Chris have out together an album which we're hoping to sell at gigs, and I have to recoup the outlay on that before I buy more watches.

Blatant advert to follow...

I know the shop - our band played in Lille a couple of years running. I shall have to post a pic of my collection - which isn't quite as big as the Lille shop!

Just done a bit of research on the Majex and the Pierce movements. The Pierce is, naturally enough, a Pierce movement - calibre 103. By a weird coincidence, the Majex is also a Pierce movement - calibre 105! Pierce always used their own movements in their watches, whereas Majex used various stock movements from other manufacturers. My other Majex - the gold one - uses an Enicar 1292 movement. However, as far as these two Pierce movements are concerned, the 103 is slightly superior in engineering and finish to the 105.

CD ordered. Some money in the pot for another watch then!!!!!

Lovely - very kind of you.

I have to recoup the cash on the CD production first... but, yes... just a teensy-weensy watch or two next year, perhaps. :D

I see them cheeky numbers in some shops in Lile yesterday. Gave the wife a wink and well you have guessed the rest.

(if only I were a few years younger)
