Does anyone know the simple steps of repairing a case hinge. I have a few nice pocket watches now working but with the case back hinge broken. What tools are required? Can I use a torch and solder for example. Thanks.

If I had a lot of money (and therefore time and comfort in life) I would just buy any tool and equipment out there needed to repair and restore every possible component on a watch.

Am I alone here ?

i am sure you have taper reamers.    brass hinge taper pins are available from watch parts supliers.  i have done one,  they are a bugger,  much like the hunting case cover spring.    i think the proper silversmith is the master of "case hinges"     vin

Here are a couple of links the second is a very poor vid with no sound but its good enough to see how the repair is done. Bread & butter for a qualified jeweller but us watchmakers a big learning curve.
