Hey

This watch case is numbered 7009-8140 I am trying to fit a replacement glass to it and it wont fit.

Looked around online and cannot find anything about fitting glass to this case. Can any one tell me, can the bezel be removed. If it can i can get it to fit . Don,t want to force it and break it if the bezel can be removed.

Or if any one knows were there is info on fitting this glass to this case.

And it is the right glass for the case XMF320-855  sternkreuz.

Sorry pics are not better.

cheers

Hi Gary. I think the crystal can be pressed out from the back. But if you want to remove the bezel, remove the bracelet first. The bevel of the bezel is hidden there between the lugs. But you will need a bezel removal tool. There is no space to insert a knife there.

Goodluck.

Question, IMHO, is "is the bezel removable or not" ... to answer that a good (no blurry) close up pic showing the side of you case could help a lot ...

If your bezel IS removable you could use a single edge blade (one-side is protected so that you can kill your finger) like that one
https://images.app.goo.gl/BTNaBfoa9eCDW8DbA
- remove the bracelet and put you watch case on a flat surface ... upside up
- hold your single edge blade horizontally and put the sharp side on the "groove" between bezel and case
- gently hit the protected size of the blade, repeatedly until the blade goes between case and bezel
- remove the blade and proceed the same all around the bezel so that it moves up about 1/4 mm
- proceed again all around the bezel until you can insert a thicker blade (pocket blade for instance) between case and bezel
- gently use the pocket blade as a lever, proceeding all around the case, to slowly move the bezel up and up until it comes off

Hi Gary   had a look as promised, they look removable but as far as I can see on mine there is no slot or cut out on either of the watches what will be needed is a bezel removal too as per the picture. It places equal force in four places lifting the bezel, this tool will double up as a case back removal tool.  hope this is informative.

If I may ... I wouldn't use such a tool for a steel bezel without retaining ring ...
Would you kindly post a side pic of one of your watches to check if a single edge razor blade could be used ?

I got a China made copy of the Horotec. Works on bezels and casebacks. Cousins has it in their bezel removal tools section.

The cutout to get a tool under the bezel is usuall hidden between the lugs. Remove the bracelet/strap and you will see it. The space is so narrow that only the Horotec tool will be able to get in.

Hi

This is the best i can do with phone camera.

Hope this is what you wanted to see.

I have seen on youtube they just push there,s on.

I cannot see a groove to enter a razor blade.

I just seem to get watches that are weird or strange.

Thanks for looking and helping.

cheers

Hi Gary  It should come off Im sure.  I have the chinese copy of the Horotec and it will shift case backs, with the bezel i think the four point contact would be more even around the bezel and avoid distortion

Hi Gary  I had another look at mine and tried to remove the bezel with the clamp and it refused to move didnt press too hard not wanting to break the watch case or bezel.  I have attached some pics of the rim and a couple from the scope Manodeoro asked for . If you get it off getting it back will be a fun time.        Cheers

While I don't have the same model, on both my 6619-8190 and 6719-7050 I removed the crystal with a crystal press and after I threw the case into the ultrasonic to clean it, the bezels came off with me using a razor to start it an then my case knife to get it all the way off.

    • I sure appreciate your comment! I will look into one of those or maybe something similar. I of course will check your video to have a better idea.  by the way, that’s a beautiful lathe! Mine is a little peersless, but I just bought a Boley & Leinen that is on its way. That’s the one I am looking a motor for. It comes with a motor, but I want to replace it for  one that has a speed controller.
    • Indeed. I would not attempt one. Here is my messy Sherline setup
    • This conversation is becoming a very confusing. The etachron system is a very nice system for manufacturing watches. As you know it consists of two components the stud and the regulator pins. Beautiful thing of this system is you can open up your regulator pins center the hairspring and as you close the pins they will close equally on both sides providing you centered it in the first place. It's not like you're going to become closer to one side or the other as the definition of the regulator pins is a bit confusing it's not exactly a slot sort of. I'm thinking maybe a little eight reading will be helpful for you. Then the file name was changed by me at the US patent but the wording of Seiko may or may not actually be attached to it soared up? I just did that so I can find it in my files. Normally patents are in people's name if they work for a company the company name will be there you'll notice the person lives in Japan which is interesting as the name would imply that this is a Swiss product. Somewhere I think I have the patents for the stud and I believe that is Swiss like a lot of things their Japanese and Swiss and then the Japanese let the Swiss name stand as it seems you more popular in case as you read up on the patents of the regulator pins or pin will see and it should explain exactly how and why it works also why it's important to always close at an open in specific directions because the pins actually have a shaped to them it's very hard to see the shape as it's very tiny.   As a reminder with this system it's mass-produced. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they use cameras and computers to do all of the adjustments.  The meaning of this is that the majority of watches will function as there supposed to and do what they're supposed to do the system will allow us for some minor in tolerance and has more than likely as I said no human hand is ever touched those watches that's the way they left the factory and they work fine. • These still seem stupid expensive for a bottle, but still £100 cheaper than than the Moebius ones. Anyone have any experience of these: https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/epilame-fixodrop-special-bottle-horotec
    • Yes, this is not a basic part. Here are some pictures of making one
