Hello all,

I have a Hamilton 600 with a stuck caseback. Any advice on how to loosen it without damaging the lugs, or caseback itself?

It desperately needs a service, and an ultrasonic bath as you can see.

Thank you!

Hi The cheap way is to superglue a large nut to the back and use a spanner, Then fill the nut with acetone which will release the glue.  Job done. used it a few times and it works.

I may give that a shot, It doesn't damage in any way?

That is a screw back case, so you need a good case back opener.

Correct, I have a few presses etc I have tried. It is stuck on tight.

notice the flats.  a large cresent wrench can turn this.   you need a "fixture" to hold the case securley.  i use the wooden block.  this case has fine threads and might be "cross threaded".  be careful,  good luck.  vin

I’ve always wanted one of those diver-style Hamiltons. Message me if you ever decide to sell it!

Update: I was able to get it off with the nut and glue trick. I also heated it slightly with a blowdryer. The gasket had basically turned to glue in the back. In the midst of service as we speak!
