Hi all,

Hoping someone can help with this. I have a lovely old Timex drivers style watch with the M25 movement. The watch winds and runs fine...but it wont stop winding! 30+ turns of the crown and its still going. Usually id think broken mainspring, but as i say the watch actually runs just fine.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Ta

Matt

I suspect the winding arbour is slipping/not catching the centre of the mainspring. The problem is I am not sure if Timex watches allow for the mainspring barrel to be opened.

Hi Matt

You can gain access to the barrel and pop it off to take a look, but it will mean separating the plates and dismantling.

Hi   the problem is either as clockboy said the arbour is slipping or or the mainspring has broken at the outer end  allowing the spring to retain enough tension to drive the watch for a while.   I have attached two documents should you wish to dismantle and repair the watch your self.       good luck.          Cheers
