Hi,

So I don't have the equipment to make a new balance staff for this little pocket watch and I just can't find anything that will fit. Any advice I'm beginning to think I'll never see it tick...

Sell it on to someone who can.

I can't make a balance shaft , its too much effort  so I'm pretty content to just replace them if I can source parts. Otherwise it moves on.

Hi   the problem with old english lever and fusee watches was the manner of their manufacture, Plates made by one person the wheels cut by another and all assembled by the "maker". There are subtle differences in a lot of them that require broken parts to be repaired or re made individualy or if you are lucky finding a donor watch, best advice is if you neither have the tooling to make a staff is keep it for spare or sell it on for spares

I’ve become quite attached to this little watch I might keep it to one side and hope a balance shows up on eBay or pass it on to a pro

A man after my own heart  I cannot part with things as well  I have watches which are probably BER but I hold on to them just in case.              Cheers

I’ve done so much other work on it I really need to see it tick I’ve found that Ronda 327 is almost a perfect fit so I might try to cobble a balance together
