Strange how the dial looks twisted but the 3 lines up with the crown.

I'm presuming the case back is what lines up the movement.

Looks to me like the crown tube is not in the normal place. Kind of odd....

From memory I think you are correct, but it might also be a slight optical illusion as the pictures are taken from an odd angle. I'll confirm the situation when it arrives.

  On serious side,  I don't think there be a nuke attack,  just a tactical use at worst, but you are right, one never knows.

Most sane and sensible people I suspect.

The alarmingly cheap replacement quartz mechanism for the Rotary in this bunch arrived the other day.

As I suspected, it is a Chinese clone of the original movement, which meant that not only did I have to replace the movement, but I had to cut and fit the stem that came with the replacement, as it differed markedly from the original.

Having said that, it works, came with a free battery, and looks identical once fitted, so all three of this job lot are now working perfectly and looking almost like new.

Just for completeness here is the 99p lot ticking away nicely. I could have picked a better time to take the shot as the date is just starting to change on the Rotary. Oddly it takes forever but the number finally clicks into place almost exactly at midnight. I may have a play with this to move it forward a bit, but currently I think it is fine the way it is.

@AndyGSi Correct. There is nothing to stop you fitting the mechanism in whatever position amuses you. Obviously it is *meant* to look like this.

 I now have it cleaned and running. It needs a crystal, but I may have another crack at removing some more of the scratches. I also need to dig through my stash and see if I have a suitable 16mm fixed lug strap. I have the original one steeping in some detergent and disinfectant, but it is a little tired and worn, so I don't think it will be recoverable. I may save the buckle and indulge in a little leather work to fabricate a replacement.

A "Siro" pin lever nickel cased "trench watch" for 99 pence. This most likely has radium on the dial, so I'll need to be a little careful with the cleaning.

The case looks in reasonable condition, except for some oxidation on the front.

I picked this up at the vintage fair on Sunday for $5. Ineresting little 32mm watch. Seems to be an older size 0 but with production date of.May 1904. With Sir Wm Pitt on the dial and bridge maybe made for British but made to.look like an American pocket watch conversion? The clasp on bracelet say sturdy with a patent date of 1928. Lugs definately a later addition. 

Was all gunked up so stripped, cleaned oiled and reassembled. Will need to work with the hairspring but everything is there and working.

Added new crystal.

I use a good dose of Ajax or Flash floor cleaning liquid. Though with some, bleach does sound like a good idea!

So after an hour in boiling water and bleach and then a clean with a stiff brush, this is what's come out in 10 minutes in the US.
