I have these random watches lying around, and I want to crack into them and see what they look like. My question is are these screw-back watches or do I have to pry them open? If screw-back what is the best way to do it? Thanks a bunch.

What are the signs that it's a snap back instead of screw?

No notches, even if sometime these are faked. And in general, cheaper or older watches.

About tools to use have a read. For more answers use the search function top right.

with a screw back around the outer edge of the back there are square indents  for the use of the Jaxa removing tool or other like tools snap backs are plain with no indents. If you look around the case edge you may find a pry point in the form of an indent for the case knife
