Unitas 6497 Case

Hello all!

I got my hands on a 15j Unitas 6497, and I would like to case it:

 

Could you provide any sources of 41mm or less cases?

I found something on Ofrei (http://www.ofrei.com/page1494.html), but I was wondering if there wouldn't be any smaller cases that would fit  a 6497?

Hi Bogdan I always use ebay for those. Some Chinese cases are pretty good and you get a lot of different sizes...and a price break!

I have also looked for small 6497 cases and it seems Ofrei are the only ones carrying the smallest (41mm) ones. Everything on eBay seems to be 44mm minimum.

One more question, if I may: about the balance jewels,are they friction-fit? Because I can't see any screw-tips.

I read somewhere that this company makes 41mm cases - supplied to other watchmakers as well as for their own designs. It's a long shot - why not send them an email? The worst they can say is "no"...

You can be riight, but I think the photo was taked very close, in macro, and you see a efect of paralax increased by the distortion of the thikness of the glass, due the photo was not take perpendicuary to the dial. But I can be wrong.

I don't think that the chinese people are so cross-eyed to do that...

That's fair comment and I did wonder about it, but doesn't explain the rotational error in my opinion.

I found a 43mm case today. At least it's 1mm smaller than the 44mm "standard" commonly found on eBay...

 

 

They also have the asian 6497 with swan neck for $45 including shipping, which is the lowest I have found.

The above URL has changed. They have a selection of 6497 cases, but 43mm is still the smallest.

They still have a good price on the 6497 movement; $37 for the regular and $40 for the swan neck version.

They also have an AliExpress store.

Has anyone ordered from wenping1970 site? I want to order a couple cheap movements to practice on and they seem better pricing than on ebay. As they also have other parts, I would like to order everything from one place.
