I have converted some to no-date, but not re-assembled them as day-date (that I recall)...

I try to show you a way to do it.

First make sure the day jumper is in a nice shape and put a small dot of HP-1300 SC on top of it.
The SC is the colorless version of the HP-1300.

Put the day disc in place.

Rotate the disc gently into place. You should feel a small snap when the day jumper goes into place.

Put the Day indicator spring–clip into place, if you don’t the day disc will not stay in place.

Now everything should work fine, put it in the day/date setting position. Turning counter clock wise should change day and clock wise the date.

Yes it goes under the plate, I took some more shots for you.
Clockwise rotation to put the disc in place is ok.
