Hi All,

Hope it's OK to ask on here, if not please delete..

I have a couple of old cylinder escapements with broken bottom pivots, does any one on here repair them?? If so could you PM me please..

Hi  cylinders employ what they call Tampons (press in pivot blocks) and require specialist tools to replace. Depending on where you are located either obtain a list of bona fide watch makers who will be capable of doing the job, although they may decline , from The British Horological Society (BHI) or the  American Watch and Clock Institute. (AWCI).

Thanks for getting back to me...I am in the UK and yes I know about the cylinders I used to have an 82 year old friend that did mine, but sadly no longer with us.. Hence my asking my fellow clockies on here if anyone still does them..

Have you looked in the adds in the clocks magazine. I recommend that, you can also place an add. If not then its as watchweasol suggested the  B H I.

There is gent in lostwithiel in Cornwall that repairs cylinders, he advertises in the HJ, I’m about to send 2 platforms for him to repair.

google lostwithiel watch repair and they come top of the search results.
