 Hi guys

Quick question, is it possible to release the stem on a seiko epson nh35 movement from the top down. Im trying to mod a monoblock case (steeldive mm300 homage) and I need to remove the stem, there is no collar extension system. I have the date disk and auxilleries stripped off but the release mech is under the chassis.

Anyway to release the stem?

Hello and welcome to the forum      As regards to the question If the movement was designed for the conventional case ie  screw back, and the release designed for the same,   I wold say  no. but there again I have never tried.  May be other members have come ascross this problem before.?

Normally when there is no access to the stem release then the stem is of the split type, it can be separated by pulling. Cousins UK has a selection of extender with which one may be able to convert a regular stem into a split type.

Another technique is to cut a small chamfer in a single piece stem so that it can be pulled out. That requires a clock / watchmaker's lathe.
