I just thought how bad it is out of shape and when a secure it with the pin it would not be possible to get it in beat am i wrong. Do thing it will be ok like that. One other thing where the spring is secured what is the purpose of the notch just before the hole

Hi Willow   the balance spring looks cabable of being re formed, being a clock they are that bit more ameanable to manipulation. So with care saveable and if done whilst attached to the balance it should be in beat,  If you remove the spring for repair then mark the balance hub where the split is in the collet so as you can re attach the spring in the same location.

Hi Willow  best thing to do is to mark the spring position on the balance an then remove it, working on a white/pale card re form the outer curve on the same arc as the rest of the spring using tweezers  or balance spring tools. another possible is to make a template photograph the spring on the card and then print it now you have a guide to work to in the shape of the outer coil.      good luck.  I sounds more difficult than it is in reality.

I can't think of a better advice than to watch Mark lovic video showing how he manipulates a hairspring.

Just google and watch it on youtube.
