Broken stem

Hello everyone. I have my Grandfather's watch that has a broken stem in it. I am having trouble locating the stem release. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Unscrew the highlighted screw 1.5 to 2 turns

That screw seemed to loosen the broken stem piece. It will slide back into the movement, then back to flush with the outside edge of the movement pretty freely. However I can't get it to come out far enough to get a hold of it with a pair of tweezers.

You might have to remove the hands and the dial and work from that side to remove the stem.

Try pressing on the screw (now that you have given it a few turns) while pulling on the stem.
