Okay, much like the Caravelle I posted a week or so ago, I have come into possession of the 1970s sideral s. I'd like to get a look at the movement but want to make sure that I remove the stem and crown in the correct manner. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Ya . I think all sideral have a split stem from the start . But when they brake they replace with a non split stem . i have a sideral with non split but can pull it out with some slight force . it still works for setting the time and so .

Check if the dial can be removed while the movement is in the case.

 

On some Seastar 7 with the 2481 movement the dial is held in by nylon friction bushes. If the dial comes off then remove the keyless works etc etc.

 

Brute force may work but should only be used if there is absolutely no other option.
