Hi everyone,  should have joined Years ago.

Having problem with Jaeger Le Coultre dirty dozen 479 caliber.. the balance wheel spoke hole has become enlarged   How would you suggest to close it up.

The hole either got enlarged from punching out the staff, or the replacement staff is undersized, or both. The correct fix would be to make a new staff that fits.

Thankyou for that best answer.  The balance wheel had the wrong staff.. too long .. whoever serviced it before had put two little lumps under the balance bridge.  When removed the balance bridge fell right on the pivot and soul not run.  This is really nice have all these wonderful brains around this great hobby.

Yes combination of what you said thanks so much.. hole is too small to oversize and bush.  Looks like a new one coming.. I personally have been repairing French and other antique movements.  25 years.  But these watches really get you in..  cheers..

I'll give you therapy if you give me your lathe.   Fear not

Often, I see something on EBay that has more than I want, but at least one part is very desirable. In this latest purchase, I wanted the base and motor. Did not need large bed, head and tailstock.
