Hi

I was winding my old Longines 370 calibre and the stem came out , the stem came as a two piece stem which interlocks as the watch has this unusual front case opening by removing the glass, the issue is I'm trying to install the stem back but cannot find the button or the screw to secure the stem, I found a very small screw quite near the stem hole but and tried to tighten it after installing the stem without success.

So I stopped there before I break anything, please help.

Thanks

Just FYI, the introduction section is for sharing few words about oneself if so you want, straight repair questions go into this section instead.

As the stem pieces look intact and you have tried fitting the male section to no avail there is a possibility that you have got a broken piece in the keyless work under the dial. So remove the hands and dial and inspect the fitting as you re insert the stem to ensure the fitting is correctly placed.    can you re check the make and caliber number , should be under the balance as I can not find a ref sheet.       thanks.

The circled screw is to release the stem. If it pulled out it could be that this screw had loosened, but it could also be that the detent is worn. Try to loosen the screw about 1 turn, and see if you can refit the stem, if it seems to fit back well, tighten it up and check that it pulls into setting position and goes back to winding.
