Hi all

I have just finished working on my very first watch repair, a Seiko 7009-3130 picked up as a non runner on eBay for not very much money, being my very first watch repair attempt I must admit to being prepared for it to never work again and just end up in a spares bin.

So you can only imagine my surprise after stripping, cleaning, rebuilding and lubrication to find I have a working watch, the balance spring needed replacing as it was a very erratic runner, although I did manage to adjust the spring to improve things I did end up replacing it with one in a much better condition and its now in full working order, keeping excellent time.

Given this was my first repair attempt that's an absolute miracle.

Anyway sorry to waffle and back to the point of this post, as can be seen in the photos below the watch has the wrong bracelet fitted, anyone know what bracelet is correct for the 7009-3130.

Also one more question, the spring bars on the watch do not behave like normal common spring bars with almost no movement, its almost like they are machines solid, would it have normal bars or did Seiko fit a different type to these watches.

Thanks for any help with this

Paul

Even if you get the part number from someone that looked into Boley.de, Cousins UK, Seiko Australia, etc, that doesn't mean you can easily find one to purchase, also considering that the model bas been discontinued decades ago. And even if found it may cost a price exceeding the material value of the watch itself.

My suggestion is thay either you cut and adapt a pair of regular folded terminals, or do Google searches and keep an eye on Ebay.

you could do what everyone else does go to your favorite search engine and search for the case then maybe narrow it down by using the word band or strap that if you're lucky you might get the first link.

so for first link we get a description 10 mm should be the opening size in the case. Then you get additional numbers like SCWL45H1 and Z1357S.  this gives you something else the search for

then the second link was just the first thing I saw that came up I do see there's additional things and I see references that the they been on eBay just none right now. Which means the show up to get on eBay.

    • That’s a nice idea, But i’m committed to providing this site as a gift to the watch repair community as my thank you for my incredible life i’ve had in this business. Ive done well and unless my financial circumstances change then i’m more than happy to foot the bill. If circumstances do change then be assured that I will make an appeal. For now, I’m comfortable with the way things are and I am extremely delighted to remove Google Ads from this site and to stop Patreon, it feels like a major step forward 🙂 Sorry, I missed your reply, I got blinded by another poster in this thread. Yes - I can confirm that I have always seen WRT as a not-for-profit website, and therefore - not a business as such. I’m lucky and have done well in my life due to a decision made in my teens to start a watch repairing apprenticeship which has sustained myself and my family for many years now. Consider this my small way of paying it forward. Ive been committed to keeping the site alive on a technical and financial level for over 10 years now and I have zero plans to change that. Thank you for your kind words by the way. And as for your wish - nobody can control what happens in life, if something happens to me I have things in place with my family but I’m just not comfortable talking about my personal business - I wish a certain person would respect that, but i’ve calmed down now - i’m only human 😄
    • Yes, exactly. I've seen a few different versions, but mine has the blue water symbol, not white.    I think it's Acrylic. The case is plastic so I would the is the lens would be too.
    • Hi there Josh, welcome to the forum.
    • From the same listing, the back side: I would guess that the back pops off rather than the front. You can see a little groove there where the caseback sits over the winding stem, rather than a case tube. Look for an indent or notch around the back. It might be possible to pry this off from almost anywhere on the back if it sits right against the rubber strap. The movement looks like it is from the Ronda RL family (015 or 115 or something? I forget which numbers have a calendar and which don't)
    • I'd expect a similar notch somewhere around the rear to pop that off.
