Hi everyone,

just started repairing an old watch, have tried getting the back off to replace the battery but none of my screwdrivers fit, what screwdriver would fit the screws?

Thanks for any advice/suggestions :)D6A05535-7B37-49A3-B483-5ED27CC6F98B.thumb.jpeg.9439015f1a3d04172e79fdee1eadd44b.jpeg

I have a set of cross points that will remove that type of back, I have had them so long I cant remember where they came from. You could take the watch to a tool shop and see if they have got one to fit or check out cousins uk  or Jules  Borel. esslingers , Otto frei  in the USA.  Best not chew up the heads with inappropriate tools.   Another suggestion is tools used by mobile phone and tablet repair personell.

Hi

The heads of these screws are made for either a small Philips type or a standard flat head driver.

So either will do the job.

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest a Phillips head screw driver as well. A flat blade screwdriver may fit the cross, but because the sides of the cross taper immediately towards a point at the bottom, a flat blade screwdriver can not get a very good purchase on the screw. If they are tight, a flat blade could cause some damage.

Incidentally, OP here joined Aug 17 and last visited the 20th of same month. It's not like all new members have an enduring interest in repairing watches, or just talk about them.
