I’ve been lucky and got myself a compound slide for my Boley 8mm lathe, now on my 6mm Lorche I use hand gravers and will also if required on my Boley.
But if using the compound slide with a tool post what are the best/available cutting bits to use please?

The ones that you grind yourself for the need, I suppose you can use 1/8" or 3mm square. When I started turning I bought a nice wooden box of 8 tools, some I have broken and others remain unused. In hindsight some square HSS stock would have served me better for a lesser cost.

To start with I bought ready ground down types, I soon found those wouldn't work for what I needed. So I started to buy the blanks and would  grind down to what I wanted to undertake the task.
