I was working on a Bulova quartz watch last night and came across an ETA 955.411. The circuit was drawing an  excessive amount of current. So I removed the pcb from the movement and tested it again. It was still drawing the same amount of current.

I checked if Cousins had a spare but it was marked as obsolete. A check on eBay also came up empty. I checked Ranfft website and it had a long list of 955 variants. The movement plate looks identical except the pcb had minor differences.

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the pcb of a 955.411 with say a 955.412?

And Aliexpress has an OEM pcb for a 955. And it has a whole list of variants that it can work with.

Has anyone tried a Chinese pcb?

TIA

Were you able to measure how much current it draws exactly? Any difference when inhibited (crown out)?

The 411 to 412 (and 414) stepping could just be moving the PCB from old-school trimmer to internal adjustment, where the rest of the movement stays the same -- but I'm not sure either.

Luckily it's only $5 on your ali link, so no harm trying 🙂    Except that it could take weeks to arrive..

The movement would draw about 11uA for a few secs then short out and go FSD. (About 25 uA)
