Just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is John.  I live just outside of Boston, Mass, USA.  I've owned a Rolex Datejust since the early 90's and never got much more into watches.  The watch hasn't been working for about 10 years so it's been sitting in a drawer.  I finally decided to send it in for repair which got me thinking about nice watches.

I'm now getting into watch repair and have my first project in the works.  Hope everyone is well.

Welcome here. Sending your valuable watch for professional repair was the right choice. As a beginner one will almost inevitably make mistakes, break and lose things, one can just browse and read around here for confirmation.

Thanks JDM.  Yes, I would definitely not want to take on repair of the Rolex.  It just got me interested in the topic and now I'm down the rabbit hole.  😀

Welcome!

When I started out I practiced on Russian Vostok movements (Swiss heritage, excellent performance, and cost next to nothing). If interested I write more about my love for Russian watches here.

Welcome to the forum John.

Watch your footing. It is one of the deepest rabbit holes out there. 😂
