Seiko 3302A - How to lift day and date rings

I have recently taken an interest in some of the early electrics and came across this one.  The makers mark is LeGant but I know from reserch the movment is by Seiko.

It will run but there is a very sloppy fit to how the stem seats and I can not set the date or time.  I see what looks like a split ring that holds it all in place.  is there a tool for removing these? Or am I looking at this wrong?

Yes, same as on current Seikos. Just lift it gently around with a blade. Sometime there is a small undercut to make that easier.

well I figured it out and oh course what did I find?  Right! Someone was already in here and "borrowed" a few parts.. dang.  I have another by Stellaris that does not run so will see if from two I can make one.  Between them both I spent maybe $15.00 so if nothing else I learned something.  Yeah, there is a reason these go for so little on eBay!

Once I lifted off all the day and ate parts I found that nothing was missing.  it just was so dried up that the clutch was jammed up inside.  a little lube and all slipping and sliding as it should. Amazingly I got it all back together and  it began to tick away.  Well that is until the seconds had touched the minute hand and popped off.   I will give it a go tomorrow.. I knew it wouldn't be a quick fix!

very true.  If nothing comes of this I can at least be happy I was able to get all the bits back into place.

If the day and date correctors are similar to the 7S26 movements, the white plastic transmission and corrector wheels are nothing short of delicate and will not tolerate the slightest misalignment or binding. The fingers shear right off (ask me how I know )
