The Rolex auto wind when cleaned also needs treating with “epilame” sometimes traded as fixodrop. I speak from experience, if the watch has not been serviced in the last 5/6 years then this will need to be done as well.

I asked this question a couple of months ago but had no reply.

Is there anyone out there who would look at my useless Rolex please ?

Have a look on the BHI website for reputable independent watchmakers.

Thank you.

I had the watch serviced by Watch Doctors in the UK - very helpful although sending it to them from France was expensive what with insurance and all that.

They had it back 3 times (FOC) and couldn't find anything wrong but it still didn't self-wind.

I lent it to a younger friend in case it was an 'old codger' thing but it still stopped after 2-3 days,

It's rotting in my safe here as a completely useless piece of s**t.

Impossible to get any sense out of Rolex and finding a watchmaker in France is next to impossible.

I'm using a Rotary watch bought off Amazon which works perfectly and keeps much better time than the Rolex did when it was working but am very unhappy with having an expensive watch which doesn't work.
