ETA 2472 balance complete

Hi Guys, still on my journey of stripping and trying to service old ETA movements and enjoying learning lots as I go from you guys thanks for all your help. I am not up the the level of changing balance staffs and dont have any of the tools so I stick to replacing the balance complete.

I have a few ETA 2472 watches I have picked up on the bay which I have "serviced" and got back up and running but a couple of them need the balances sorting so I need to get some balance complete.

Looking on the cousins it seems there are a couple of obsolete items but there is an available item which is Balance Complete Ordinary ( 721 ), ETA 2450, ETA2450721.

It does however list an obsolete item Balance Complete Inca Bloc, Shockproof ( 721.1 ), ETA 2450, ETA24507211.

The  watches I am trying to sort out are 2472 incabloc so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a difference between balance complete 721 (ordinary) and 721.1 (inca bloc) and whether the balance complete that is available ETA2450721 is compatible.

Normally there is difference in the pivots length between balances complete that are made for regular, or for anti-shock jewels. Because of that they are not directly interchangeable and have slightly different part numbers.

Trying to figure out parts in interchangeability can be a problem? For instance if you look at the first link there was a lot of variations of this watch and we don't know how far the variations went beyond the general descriptions here. Then the second link there is the parts for your watch we see that there's three different balance completes.

Then things get more interesting go down to the balance staffs how many different balance staffs were there?Looks like eight different staffs fortunately you don't entirely have to worry because if you're replacing the balance complete you don't care if there were different other dimensions other than were talking about the length of the staff and shape and the pivots. If it's for a shock protected system it's more than just the pivots there's a special shape required to work with the entire system.

The third link is interesting and the we can look up balance staffs. Which isn't being overly helpful but does verify something?

Normally there'd be lots of dimensions they do indicate two different staffs that are two different lengths. Which exactly confirms what has already been said you have to get the right balance complete for your watch. It's not enough to have a balance complete for your model of watch it has to be the right balance completes. So if the watch had variations like Dawn shock protected versus shock protected they will not usually interchange. Cf. be very careful with parts not the jump to a conclusion that everything will always fit if there's variations over time which there usually is with watches.
