Hi everyone - I'm Phil from Sydney (the one in Australia).

Fell into this by happening upon some watch repair videos and thought to myself, "here's an opportunity to work on the pocket watch which belonged to my grandfather".

Very excited to learn more about this as a hobby going forward, though it's way too late in life to consider it for a career change.

cheers - Phil

Welcome Phil. If you post some pictures of your grandfather's watch, there are plenty of people here to identify what you are dealing with. Although Pocket watches are a good place to start because of their size, spares for the older ones are hard to find. It's always best to practise on something else before tackling a watch of (sentimental) value.

Welcome to the forum Phil. (from Michael in Geelong)

I'm starting up on clocks and have bought a nice pocket watch for myself that I will do later on down the track.
