How do I separate without destroying or buying an $800 tool.

You can try this or the Presto type pullers. They don't cost $800.

Or if you are like me, I made my own with 2 sewing needles glued into a hole on the end of a chopstick.

From the free wheel side. Wedge under the hub, near the centre. And don't stab yourself.

Why it has to be separated? If it's for lubrication only that can be done without taking apart. 1 droplet of 9010 into 10 of petroleum ether, drive it there by the side, capillary action will bring it up.

I used two knife blades, slid under and prised up (with some tissue to stop scratching).  Though I will buy one of those tools referenced by @HectorLooi
