When oiling a watch specially the balance wheel can you just oil the staff itself reason when just using a loup find it very difficult to take out and replace and if you believe the jewels to be clean and free of oil.Or do i need to buy micro scope if so can somebody please advise which micro scope to buy ps just a Hobbyist.

The balance jewels need to be removed and cleaned. Old oil and dirt will affect timekeeping. While it is a bit hard to do, it is something worth doing... you will get better at this. For the moment, stick to simple swiss watches with incabloc first. Those non-shock jewels and other types of shock absorber can come later!

You will probably never get the cap jewels properly cleaned without removing them. When I put the mainplate with installed balance assembly and balance jewels in the ultrasonic cleaner the cap jewels are still a bit dirty. So I clean them separately in lighter fluid.

As Anilv said, the easiest way to start is with incabloc settings. These are quite uncomplicated and the shock spring will be still attached on one side and doesn’t come lose completely as on other shock settings.

with enough practice you will get comfortable with performing this task.
