Hi All, Working on a tameside clock and someone has soldered the crutch so i can't adjust the beat any ideas on how i can rectify this thanks.

It must have got so loose that is why it has been soldered. You will have to remove that solder and clean it up. Turn the collet back so you have a decent depth and rivet it as it should have been when new.

Just heat it over a spirit lamp and that should do it, you won't need much heat, if you have a blow torch that would be better as you have better control of the heat, there are products out there that you can buy that stops the heat from spreading but in this case you don't need it.

Not easy when its a flat strip. If it had been a brass or steel wire/rod then yes.

rodabod should have mentioned it won't even go into beat
