Yes I know it's a movement holder but what's the plastic ring for?

Is it stuck to the holder? Maybe it is there to stop the two parts of the holder from bending away from what they are holding.

That doesn't really make sense though as movements are all sorts of sizes.

I don't know what it is for. To add some colour?

Comes with a crystal lift but I can't see the purpose.

The plastic ring (if soft) might prevent the holder from sliding when the watchmaker is manipulating the movement with both hands and two tools?
