I just got this little Elgin #2955179 for $50. It is running, but I'm sure it needs some cleaning. What do you think? Did I do ok? This is not my first pocket watch to own, but it is the first one I have bought.

NICE CASE!!!, the watch is a keeper too!  Prod. year of 1888... and that case, if it is original has been stored and not used, it looks almost new, with the exception of a few dings, it definitely has not been in some ones pocket very much.

FYI- here is the information on your pocket watch.. https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/search/result/elgin/2955179 if you had not already looked it up.

Yup, the Pocket Watch Database confirms it as Grade 101 - produced in 1888 with a production run of 1,000 in that year. Size 6s and 11 jewels. Sweet little watch - and $50 sounds like a good price.

Worth a clean, probably, given its age.
