Bought this clock at a flea market. Can not find anything about it.

I tried searching for Vidrio clocks, Vidrio glass, jadeite, and uranium glass clocks. This clock forecloses in ultraviolet light. If anyone knows I have a few questions on this clock. First is who made it? I get nothing on the search for Vidrio clocks but for some slag glass Cadillac clocks. When I bought it it had no cord. I took it apart and put some alligator clips on the wires left inside the clock and I can hear the hum of the coil but no movement. The starter spins free but will not run. any help in how to fix it and information about the clock if anyone knows would be much appreciated. Thanks.

These early synchronous motor clocks were not able to start automatically. The start knob had to be given a quick turn to get the motor running, much like vintage cars with a hand crank.

Your starter knob seems to be broken. I think it would be safer to use a proper connector on the wires before trying to start up the clock. And check for leakage before touching the metal parts

Its repaired. The coil had some broken magnet wire. drilled  out the rivets and unwound it to remove the broken wire and soldered it back together, This is a picture of when I just started to drill out the coil rivets. DSC08040.JPG.f7d84972c07c3351d87d3cd0713ae22e.JPG

    • Hello and welcome from Leeds, England.
    • I’m fairly new to this and have worked on maybe 30 or so vintage and new movements. I recently went through a NH35 movement that I picked up with low amplitude. 140-150 degrees and impossible to regulate. I did find that the train bridge was not flat and when the screw nearest the barrel was tightened the wheels no longer spun freely so I replaced that with a spare and all good.  I cleaned it and lubricated it, including the balance cap jewels and it came right up at 220. I could get the beat error down below 0.5 but I’m chasing the rate all over. It will be down -15 and I’ll just touch the regulator arm and it will be up +15. This is a practice movement for me as I want to learn and improve making positional error corrections on the Etachron system.  The amplitude has fallen off a bit as well, 200. I’ll let it run overnight but is there anything I’m missing that can cause the rate to change so significantly with a very very small movement of the regulator? Could the hairspring be damaged and very particular to both the  regulator and stud position?  Could the regulator pin positions off? Either too open or closed?
    • Hello All! I am a retired widower who loves watches. I tell my friends I am akin to an engineer; I fix 3, and break 6. I am happy to be here
    • The thing is you have to provide Longines with a serial number AND a reference number when you fill the form. I have the first one on the movement, but I can't see the other one, which sould look like L.xxxxxxxxxx. I mentionned the number inside the case and I sent the mail. Wait and see... Here are some picture I took yesterday when I received the watch.
    • I was in Leeds not too long ago. I went to my first (and only) Premier League game, Leeds and Aston Villa. 0-0 tie.  (Obviously this was prior to relegation.) Loved the city, actually.
