Hi all!

My name is Ivan and I live in London. I have worn a watch every day since I was a small child, but in the last year or so I got into watches more as a hobby. I feel that I can only truly appreciate mechanical watches if I know how they work and how to tinker with them, so here I am! I’ve got some basic tools and have tinkered with the regulation on my Seiko 4R36, but I’d like to be able to fully service watches too.

I can only thank the community in advance and I hope to be able to contribute with assistance one day too.

welcome aboard!

bit of advice that was given to me from our site-maybe start on some non functioning watches instead of your own in case of irreversible occurrences that might ruin your watch. Also start on some larger watch or pocket watch movements to learn how to handle small parts and tweezers, and last but not even close to being the least, take LOTS of pictures of each step. it helps with assembly/take-down and the learning of nomenclature. as you move along start thinking about investing in some quality tools. start slow as they can be quite spendy. the first spendy tools I got was a set of screwdrivers and couple pairs of tweezers, #1, #2. and some magnification that works for me. that took awhile. Lots of great vids on YT including Mark's instructionals. good luck and welcome to the rabbit hole!😉🙂
