We had an invasion of Argentine Ants in our kitchen last night. While my daughter cleaned it up, I "borrowed" an ant for a photo op. I still have a sense of wonder and fascination with what miraculous, tiny machines mechanical watches are. I hope that never goes away. Here's my friend next to a screw that holds down a minute wheel/setting wheel plate.

I know I'm going to regret this but I'm going to ask. How do you know it's an Argentine Ant?

If it's a worker, it will have a green card and passport. ;)

A valid question. They all have little t shirts that say "World's Best Ant". :D

Actually, I'm making an assumption based on what someone with no more knowledge than I told me. Because I'm a curious SOB I'm going to try to get a closer look and count their petiole nodes. :startle:

It was funny. My daughter killed lots of them - hundreds. After using this ant for a model I felt kind of bad killing...but I did anyway. I like ants when they're outside. Once they come in the house they're marked for death.

It went up to Don and said, "Buenos dias - me llamo Ant-onio!"
