Hiya

I'm having some issues getting an Accurist open to remove the movement.

I can get the crystal off the dial side, but I'm unable ( and it looks like I'm not the first ) to get the back off.

I cannot find anywhere on the back to pry with a case knife other than the "gap", and I have no joy there. I've also tried rotating it with a ball type remover without success.

Anybody have any other suggestions ?

From your pics it looks like the dial is bigger than the opening in the back of the case. So it looks to be a front loader, with a split stem.

Having not encountered a split stem before I proceeded to pull with a bit of force, and the stem came out, and it isn't a split stem ( oops ) ..

The dial and movement are still staying firmly in the case .. 😞

Hi once the back is off there will be two screws holding the movement in, as you have the bezel and glass removed it should drop out through the front. The tool as recommended by Mikepilk will do the job, some can be very tight if not been removed for years.

Correct me if I am wrong but since the movement is going to be serviced anyway, would soaking in penetrating oil do any harm?

It shouldn't be needed as it doesn't look corroded, just tight. I gave up using case knifes as I found it too hard to get some backs off, and too easy to scratch. Using the above tool it's easy to remove backs with no danger of damage.
