Speidel Tool or Trash?

What is this thing? I run across it periodically and can't decide. It looks like a manufacturing leftover, a slug, but it has a specialized shape so I am stumped.

Scott, I didn't know that. I am Jill. Knucklehead, it says Speidel and I got it as part of a lot I bought from an old watch store. But without scale, it does look like a Weber flavor bar, or even a space shuttle heat shield.

Don’t know it’s precise use but I suspect it will be a tool for doing something with Speidel expanding watch bracelets.

Exactly my thinking.  Think I will try slotting that tiny tab into various Speidel bands and see what fits. In all my spare time, right?
