Afternoon Guys,

after my 2824-2 strip down and service I need some parts.

I need a dial.

movement tabs and screws.

Crown and stem.

Cousins have some Tissot parts that look like they will do the job but I cant find any way of knowing if the case numbers will be the same parts.

my case is J374/474 Cousins list a J376.476.

can  someone point me in the right direction for the above parts please?

Many thanks James.

There are "compatible" movements on the internets for less than $100 (for donor parts ?). Individual compatible parts are also available on the bay.

For the real deal, most of the genuine parts are on ofrei (just a quick search returned most of them, http://www.ofrei.com/page1439.html),about $4 a screw, $7 for the stem.

For the dial, the bay has some, not sure about quality or what style you're looking for ($30 to $50).

For the crown, check the bay, a quick search seems to return available parts, again it depends on style ($15-$20 maybe ?)

Hi, thanks for the info, I'm looking in the UK really, I have searched EBay but came up empty.

its not the fact of finding them its more the help on identifying the correct part numbers :)

That last ebay link I gave you doesn't help with part numbers ?

Have you tried http://www.obsoletewatchandclockparts.com/? They are in the UK. I have order from them a few times and always got good service and prompt shipping (to the US)

hi, the eBay link didn't contain any parts I need.... Helpful never the less....

I have ordered a stem and crown from cousins so hopefully I have "guessed" right :)

will look through that site now , thanks.

had to order the movement tabs from HK couldn't find then in the UK :(

Cheers James.

So the new dial has 1mm shorter feet so they won't catch on the retaining arms !!! Great :( any clever ideas on how to secure the dial ??

Cheers.

Hi Ginger, there are a lot more members with vastly more experience than myself, but you could try dial dots. Alternatively, as the feet are still on the dial & they are locating in the hole correctly. Once you place the dial/movement in the case, I would assume the movement tabs that secure the movement to the case would inturn press the dial against the case & secure the the dial from any movement.

Hi dial dots may do it. But yes it will be kept in place once in. If this is ok and won't interfere with the workings then I will leave as is :)

So all together.

Had a problem that the balance kept stopping. I checked the pallet cock and it "flicked" nicely so I guess at the top jewel on the balance. Sure enough after an oil good to go.

Small problem in that were losing around 30 seconds an hour. So need to have a go at that next. No timergraph so have to be trial and error :)

James.

Added the new bracelet which I think looks good and for the grand total of about 2.50 from cousins :)

    • I sure appreciate your comment! I will look into one of those or maybe something similar. I of course will check your video to have a better idea.  by the way, that’s a beautiful lathe! Mine is a little peersless, but I just bought a Boley & Leinen that is on its way. That’s the one I am looking a motor for. It comes with a motor, but I want to replace it for  one that has a speed controller.
    • Indeed. I would not attempt one. Here is my messy Sherline setup
    • This conversation is becoming a very confusing. The etachron system is a very nice system for manufacturing watches. As you know it consists of two components the stud and the regulator pins. Beautiful thing of this system is you can open up your regulator pins center the hairspring and as you close the pins they will close equally on both sides providing you centered it in the first place. It's not like you're going to become closer to one side or the other as the definition of the regulator pins is a bit confusing it's not exactly a slot sort of. I'm thinking maybe a little eight reading will be helpful for you. Then the file name was changed by me at the US patent but the wording of Seiko may or may not actually be attached to it soared up? I just did that so I can find it in my files. Normally patents are in people's name if they work for a company the company name will be there you'll notice the person lives in Japan which is interesting as the name would imply that this is a Swiss product. Somewhere I think I have the patents for the stud and I believe that is Swiss like a lot of things their Japanese and Swiss and then the Japanese let the Swiss name stand as it seems you more popular in case as you read up on the patents of the regulator pins or pin will see and it should explain exactly how and why it works also why it's important to always close at an open in specific directions because the pins actually have a shaped to them it's very hard to see the shape as it's very tiny.   As a reminder with this system it's mass-produced. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they use cameras and computers to do all of the adjustments.  The meaning of this is that the majority of watches will function as there supposed to and do what they're supposed to do the system will allow us for some minor in tolerance and has more than likely as I said no human hand is ever touched those watches that's the way they left the factory and they work fine. • These still seem stupid expensive for a bottle, but still £100 cheaper than than the Moebius ones. Anyone have any experience of these: https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/epilame-fixodrop-special-bottle-horotec
    • Yes, this is not a basic part. Here are some pictures of making one
