It is interesting though I take issue with the statement that the magnetic attraction increases the further the staff moves away. Increase in distance decreases magnetic attraction, not increases it.

Or the inverse square law where if distance increases, force decreases, has changed in physics.

In the plane prependicular to the pivot, only at the center of magnetic field, forces sum up to zero.

Not exactly sure what you are saying @Nucejoe

If I am understanding what you are saying, you cannot be at the centre of the magnetic field as it is not on the surface of the magnet. It is central to the body of the magnets pole. The pivot is therfore a certain distance from the centre of the field. As it moves away, the force decreases.

Or Breguet are tricky little fellas.

The flat surface of end stone is prependicular to the pivot, so its intersection with sepherical magnetic field is circular  , its a circle practically spread over the flat surface.

Center of the sephere is actually above the end stone.

I'm not with you here Michael sorry, if i see what i think could be a handsome woman at a distance then I'm forced to and effectively more attracted to get closer for a better look and converse with her 😆

I am sure you are experiencing some sort of 'ism' here.

It's just not magnetism.

Sephere represensts magnetic field and plane flat surface of end stone.

Haha Michael its not a sort of 'ism' or even 'asm' for that matter. I was describing the laws of physics but of a different kind.
