Dear Forum,

I am quite new to working on watches, and I enjoy this new hobby tremendously. However, I currently have a small problem.

I have an otherwise beautiful and working Seiko 7009-5000, but it has a cracked crystal.

I already found a NOS replacement crystal, however I seem to not be able to take out the original crystal, as it is held in place by a metal ring that  so far I have been unable to remove.

As there are original Seiko replacement parts available, I guess there must be a way - any ideas, besides brute force?

Thanks for your help, and all the best from Vienna

Georg

This is a flanged crystal and it is removed with a press. (pushed from the front to remove.) I have the Seiko instructions for this model. Will post Imgur link here: https://imgur.com/KwGIMDp

I finished a blue dial version of this Seiko about a year ago. The replacement crystal was very difficult to find for me. I am glad you found one.
