I have an Enfield mantel clock with a broken mounting lug (see photos). Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to proceed?20240420_100101.thumb.jpg.2acbc925aa7256061da70de6897d40d3.jpg20240420_094548.thumb.jpg.98436f244faea084028669f312300260.jpg20240420_094600.thumb.jpg.b23a0274deba60d39bb40e3277055f4a.jpg

Get someone local to tig it ,very easy fix and should only take a few minutes so probably wouldn’t cost much ,or failing that get it very clean and silver solder it.

Thanks Dell. I thought about silver soldering. Have never done it but would like to give it a go. Do you think to put flux on the butted joint then run the solder in or to maybe brace it with a piece of scrap spring steel?

Thanks WW - I'll give it a go and it's good to know you might be able to help if i mess it up..

Will need some guidance on the silver soldering. Should I smooth the edges of the break or leave them rough? Will a butane gas torch be okay for it? Could I use a plumber's solder like this?

Personally I would get it very clean butt the two together add flux it will go between joint anyway then solder but not sure if butane would be hot enough .

Thanks everyone. I'll make sure I get a torch that is hot enough (probably propane) and give it a try next weekend.
