Hi,

After servicing a Wostok 2209 movement, which included cleaning, reassembly and regulating it, I was quite happy with the amplitude and general time keeping performance. I left the movement running for a couple of days to test the power reserve also, which was beyond 24h and probably within the 38h, as per spec.

The issues started after I installed the dial and hands, and noticed the movement stopping suddenly after few minutes. I removed the hands and dial, the hour wheel, thinking it maybe due to increased friction somewhere in the hands, or the dial rubbing something, but the symptoms continued - balance would start very easily but stop after around 4 - 5 minutes.

My only guess is that the balance bridge may have distorted when I installed the hands. I did lay the movement flat on the cushion and on a harder plastic surface to press the hands, and that may have affected the balance bridge. I have no other explanation, especially why it takes so long for the balance to stop. I don't see the balance touching anything really. It happens when dial up and dial down as well.

I would appreciate any advise on the matter.

I did eventually solved the issue. I removed the balance wheel and cleaned it again, including the jewels. Reinstalled and it's working fine now.
