The thing is probably 10 or so years old. Just wondering if this is the sort of thing one can fix with no quartz experience or if there's a known issue with them or if i should just grab a new movement and try to swap it.

Second question: Has anybody swapped an eco drive movement? is it pretty straight forward like a mechanical? Remove stem > Remove movement/dial/holder > Remove hands > Put it all back together in reverse order? I don't know how an eco drive solar cell works, if the dial is part of it, if the dial has something soldered to it? IF it's as simple as swapping a mechanical movement this shouldn't be an issue.

ANybody ever done a movement swap on a citizen? Thanks in advance.

Also it's worth noting that i have two beater watches. The ones i wear when i expect things might be subject to shock, get knocked around and generally abused. It's very interesting my 7s26 mechanical beater outlived my eco drive beater.

A repair is a lot more advanced due to the solar cell but this is part of the movement so it's a fairly easy complete movement swap.

First question would be is it just the Day or the Day & Date.

Secondly does it/they change on manual operation both by advancing past 12 and with the Quickset?

Hey sorry for not replying. It doesn't change at all. I was wondering if there's just a date wheel or mechanical means that controls it or is it entirely operated by the circuit board. Since i got nothing to lose i'm gonna take it apart and just see what i see and then i'll order a new one of there's not a little loose plastic wheel or something.
