Lift the metal ring  around the movement, so we can then see whats  left of the stem, if it has any thread left, it can be fixed with a Stem extender  , this saves you the uncertainty  of getting the wrong stem.

Any stem out of the felsa 4007 family with same complication as your watch fits.

Good luck

I have managed to release the stem. It looks to me like the end has been snapped off.

It could have snapped but it's difficult to tell.

Did you just release the screw enough to remove the stem or did you remove the screw all the way?

Only about three quarters of a turn on the screw.

I've also found an extender that seems to fit in a box of parts.

I have never done any of this kind of work , how are these winders assembled? Is the crown and the extender bonded to the shaft?

Thanks for the help all, I wouldn't have known those extenders existed.

You will find extenders fits many calibs , as long as  stem diameter fits the female of extender.

Spread a piece of sand paper on a flat surface, say flat glass.

Secure the stem in a stem holder, you want threaded side stick out to flatten its head on sand paper, taper round the stem head.

Clean the stem, it will screw into the extenders easy.

Cut the extender to size, FLATTEN & TAPER IT'S FREE END so it fits the crown without damaging it's  thread.

Loctite is OK .

Good luck

Good news, I rebuilt the stem with an extension and added a crown so the watch is now usable again. I shall have to source a correct crown because none the ones I had are deep enough, so the stem protrude excessively.

I've looked on Cousins but can't work out which of the boxes of assortments will contain what I need.
