Dear forum members,

I am a newbie at watch repair and I need your assistance to remove the crown/stem from my Roamer Power 8 watch.

It has a K63 3020 quartz movement I believe. I have attached a picture. 

Also a video on YouTube shows the same movement in another watch.

Look and see if there's a dimple in this hole that moves as you pull the crown out.

Edit

If there's nothing there then it will be the lever just above it that needs pressing.

Can I ask why you're reoming the movement?

I don't know, guess its  in one those holes , usually near the stem .

If OP blindly pushes a tool in THE RIGHT HOLE , he might push on the WRONG  PART  INSIDE  RIGHT HOLE and ruin his watch, he needs to see what he is to push on. 

A must,   is;    High magnification and good lighting.

Thank you for the replies.

I have tried pushing on both those holes to try and release the crown.  Also tried pushing down on the lever, no luck. 

Is the crown just meant to pull out, or do I have to turn it and then pull?  Anyway tried that as well...

The movement needs to be replaced (watch runs slows , even with new batteries) , I was trying to see if I could remove the movement. 

Will try again with high magnification to see if anything moves in those holes when I pull on the crown.

The thing is that the K63 3010 doesn't have a lever just the hole so this must me the release.

The question is does the crown need to be in or out to release.

Ya, saw this pic after my post, then read  this Swiss ISA  is now made in China, guess supply is likely to be plentiful.

Strange , no one here seem to have worked on these.

Perhaps should ask @nickelsilver.

These were discontinued a while ago so only chance would be NOS.

As Andy has said , more than once i believe, often with quartz watches the crown needs to be pulled, this then positions a stem release lever into view of the hole mentioned that lever has a dimple at the tip to be pressed with a pointy tool. As Joe quite rightly stated good magnification and light is required to see this lever action taking place.

👍Its easy to bypass pressing the lever if you cant see it and slip your pointy presser down by the side of it causing damage somewhere. How do we know ?..........erm....... just because we know 😅

I had used 10x magnification earlier. Did not see it.  After posting on this forum I switched to 20x...bingo. saw the lever appear. Had to put down quite some force on it to engage. 

Thank you all. 

 

Now to see if I can find a replacement movement.

They're listed as a K63.302 if you're lucky enough to find one.

      By the way, I opened my watch, looked under a magnifying glass, there is simply no grease, the screws are without traces, the slots are intact.I think it's just a matter of maintenance.there are no rotor marks on the body. And to remove the strap from yours, just press on the 1st side,and slightly move the strap, then on the other side and it will come off.

      Hi My name is Chris. Just started trying to learn about watch and clock repair as a result of repairing my fathers old 1890s police station clock (about a year ago). The clock was Ok, but having graduated to pocket watches and then wrist watches, despite the really excellent stuff on Youtube, I am struggling a bit.  As a retired engineer, I find the engineering exquisite, but a bit on the fiddly side.  I have done a few practice watches with a little success but failed a few, but have had success with Seiko 7005s, 7009s etc, but have just attempted a citizen 5430.  Nightmare.  My wife thought I had found religion as I spent so much time on my knees with my eyes to the floor looking for springs.  Got through that and found that the balance is shot.  Trying to source one or something that will fit from the citizen range has me totally perplexed.  Tried Ebay, Cousins etc without luck.  Any advice as to alternatives that will fit or alternative sources would be gratefully received.

      Agreed, this is puzzling. Can you ask questions or inspect the lots before bidding? My Boley & Leinen Reform face plate is dia. 95mm exactly. It's possible that 4 inches is a slightly too large approximation, but why then make the distinction to 3 11/16 for the sake of 8mm? If the larger ones are truly 4" then they will clash with the bed, but then I have no idea which 8mm lathe would take them. All 8mm lathes have spindle height 50mm or less, as far as I know. The spindle height is, as you say, standard 50mm for W.W.

      I have only been a member for six years & I have found this a very friendly forum although I don’t have anything to do with watches not because I don’t like watches but because I have gout in both hands so my dexterity isn’t very good, I restore torsion clocks & occasionally other antique clocks also at 72 my eyes are not what they used to be, that is why I only post on the clock forum & the lathe forum mostly . As others have said Mark it is much appreciated that  you are willing & able to do this. very many Thanks Dell
