Lost the cap jewel for cal 30110

So I’ve lost the cap jewel for the main plate side of the incabloc. Trying to find a suitable replacement. I understand this is an eta 2892 based movement. Can I use the same part and where can I source one?

The cap jewels (Pierre de c. pivot) are the same upper (dessus) and lower (desous) 122.11

Unfortunately out of stock, but they usually restock pretty quickly. These are common parts, so worth having a few in stock.

Something that i started doing some time ago was preempting a loss and measuring the capstone before working on it. The diameter you can grab from the chaton but get the thickness wrote down just in case.

Me too , used to lose capstones at least one a day.

You sound good at it too . lol 

Inspired by  this guy  😇 ,    I spread a transparent plastic sheet over the guy, before butchering start.

I read a trick somewhere... get yourself a UV torch.  The cap stones should shine brightly under UV.  So if you are lucky you should just be able darken the room and wave the torch around until if jumps out at you!

Why are you losing the stones RIch?  I haven't lost one for quite a while (tempting fate). I don't put them in the ultrasonic baskets any more - too hard to find them! I use an old contact lens case, so I can keep the top and bottom jewels separate. A drop of cleaning solution and a minute floating in the ultrasonic, rinse in IPA and done.

Yes, they do shine nicely under UV. The last one that pinged off, I found with a UV torch.

I dont lose them Mike, i dont think i ever have tbh not permanently anyway, just a fail safe idea. I only clean by hand and wait until they are ready to be reinstalled.

Thanks . They are in stock now. I’ve ordered these. Hopefully these will work out

So i received these end stones... they do not fit in the chaton.. endstone too big

the problem of watch companies modifying base movements are we do not actually know what they have modified. So assuming that parts will interchange can always be as you've discovered a bad assumption as they may not fit at all.

perhaps a measurement is in order as we may be able to figure out what it really is. Then I'm assuming it does not fit because it's too large?

      By the way, I opened my watch, looked under a magnifying glass, there is simply no grease, the screws are without traces, the slots are intact.I think it's just a matter of maintenance.there are no rotor marks on the body. And to remove the strap from yours, just press on the 1st side,and slightly move the strap, then on the other side and it will come off.

      Hi My name is Chris. Just started trying to learn about watch and clock repair as a result of repairing my fathers old 1890s police station clock (about a year ago). The clock was Ok, but having graduated to pocket watches and then wrist watches, despite the really excellent stuff on Youtube, I am struggling a bit.  As a retired engineer, I find the engineering exquisite, but a bit on the fiddly side.  I have done a few practice watches with a little success but failed a few, but have had success with Seiko 7005s, 7009s etc, but have just attempted a citizen 5430.  Nightmare.  My wife thought I had found religion as I spent so much time on my knees with my eyes to the floor looking for springs.  Got through that and found that the balance is shot.  Trying to source one or something that will fit from the citizen range has me totally perplexed.  Tried Ebay, Cousins etc without luck.  Any advice as to alternatives that will fit or alternative sources would be gratefully received.

      Agreed, this is puzzling. Can you ask questions or inspect the lots before bidding? My Boley & Leinen Reform face plate is dia. 95mm exactly. It's possible that 4 inches is a slightly too large approximation, but why then make the distinction to 3 11/16 for the sake of 8mm? If the larger ones are truly 4" then they will clash with the bed, but then I have no idea which 8mm lathe would take them. All 8mm lathes have spindle height 50mm or less, as far as I know. The spindle height is, as you say, standard 50mm for W.W.
