"But if I were to say, my fellow citizens, that we shall send to the moon, 240,000 miles away from the control station in Houston, a giant rocket more than 300 feet tall, the length of this football field, made of new metal alloys, some of which have not yet been invented, capable of standing heat and stresses several times more than have ever been experienced, fitted together with a precision better than the finest watch, carrying all the equipment needed for propulsion, guidance, control, communications, food and survival, on an untried mission, to an unknown celestial body, and then return it safely to Earth, re-entering the atmosphere at speeds of over 25,000 miles per hour, causing heat about half that of the temperature of the sun — almost as hot as it is here today — and do all this, and do it right, and do it first before this decade is out — then we must be bold. "

You never know. When we are able to visit other planets we might find more elements then we all ready have which is 118. So anything is possible.

Definately so,

Plenty of stars  more massive than our sun.

Gravitation force is directly proportional to mass, gravitation fields stronger than that of sun fuse more mass into new nuclei ( mass of two or more nucleus) which then decays  towards a stable state, simultaneously attractng electrons to fulfill its orbital momentum at all stages, so bigger atoms form and achieve stability.

Abundance of life out there, some more intelligent than us is " undebateable ".

Not all substances on earth were put together by the sun. Many have come to earth from outside our solar system, but earth is located in a so called life ring in milky way, outside which life as we know it is unlikely to exist.

What makes it complicated is that it all is a boiling pot constantly undergoing change.

Human knowledge which we call physics is very limited.

What I have problem understanding is, why creatures  on earth can only live by eating each other.

Was JFK ignorant of explosions possibilities with rocket launch ?

Whats with "  alloys some of which had not been yet invented " ?

Ballistic missle technology had already been developed to re-enter earth's atmosphere both in US & USSR. Some countries also had the technology but didn't want allocate funds to space exploration as they didn't  consider themselves competing with US or USSR.

Majority like to just live.

Speed of 25000 mph can be reduced by reverse propulsion.

Once your altitude exceeds out of earth's effective  g or reach the point of  zero  gravity, you'll be travelling through space forever  with no need for propulsion, so wouldn't make a difference whether your journey is 400000  or trillions of km. True the crew was to stay alive.

JFK's speech was more boosting emotion than tech facts. USSR  had sent yuri gagarin to earth's orbit and USA had to do better.

Then Trump takes the podium and says "we didn't land on the moon folks, it was a hoaks folks".

Inspiration is always good VWatchie, yet we the public are kept ignorant of what Govs are informed of, by scientists !  so to believe what Govs choose to tell us.

And here in my neck of the woods, this little cute Monkey was returned to earth alive.

Let's keep it between ourselves, he had peed in his pants, not kidding .😂

We see a show VWatchie, Infotainment at best.

Wow, that man is really something else! I want to see/hear it. Can you provide a link, please?

Oh dear, and I just thought it was inspirational that JFK was comparing the rocket to a watch! 😆

Cutting edge  technology back in the day.

I was there, relatives of the crew were closer to the launch pad, some were inside the complex, many cried.

You wouldn't have wanted to be present there.

Engineers had warned about the O ring.

Did you mean a link to Trump's hee haw?  Are you kidding?  Who would want to listen to Trump?

Watch biden instead,  perfectly insane.

Evolution? 🙃

A question mark and the word evolution.

Let me re-phrase my question.

I don't understand why evolution require creatures to eat each other.

I'm not that interested, but as he is accused of saying all sorts of things I wanted to see if it was true or disinformation. He's known for saying all sorts of crazy things so I wouldn't be surprised, but I find it hard to judge someone without evidence.

I am not amused by looking at disabled people.

    • Hello and welcome from Leeds, England . No idea about Citizen but someone will advise soon.
    • Hi Chris and welcome to the forum, The hands and knees is by way of the rite of passage, we have all done that at some time or another.   Added a bit of citizen gen plus the T Z glossary Citizen Technical Information.pdf TZIllustratedGlossary.pdf
    • By the way, I opened my watch, looked under a magnifying glass, there is simply no grease, the screws are without traces, the slots are intact.I think it's just a matter of maintenance.there are no rotor marks on the body. And to remove the strap from yours, just press on the 1st side, and slightly move the strap, then on the other side and it will come off.
    • Hi My name is Chris. Just started trying to learn about watch and clock repair as a result of repairing my fathers old 1890s police station clock (about a year ago). The clock was Ok, but having graduated to pocket watches and then wrist watches, despite the really excellent stuff on Youtube, I am struggling a bit.  As a retired engineer, I find the engineering exquisite, but a bit on the fiddly side.  I have done a few practice watches with a little success but failed a few, but have had success with Seiko 7005s, 7009s etc, but have just attempted a citizen 5430.  Nightmare.  My wife thought I had found religion as I spent so much time on my knees with my eyes to the floor looking for springs.  Got through that and found that the balance is shot.  Trying to source one or something that will fit from the citizen range has me totally perplexed.  Tried Ebay, Cousins etc without luck.  Any advice as to alternatives that will fit or alternative sources would be gratefully received.
    • Agreed, this is puzzling. Can you ask questions or inspect the lots before bidding? My Boley & Leinen Reform face plate is dia. 95mm exactly. It's possible that 4 inches is a slightly too large approximation, but why then make the distinction to 3 11/16 for the sake of 8mm? If the larger ones are truly 4" then they will clash with the bed, but then I have no idea which 8mm lathe would take them. All 8mm lathes have spindle height 50mm or less, as far as I know. The spindle height is, as you say, standard 50mm for W.W.
