So I did a thing. Bought a sometimes runner on ebay for 30$ and took it apart. I have watched lots o videos.   Bought the basic tools.  Took things apart. I don't think I have lost anything.....yet.  I found a broken jewel on a part I do not know the name of.  I do not have a Seitz.  Should I find a donor movement or learn to replace and buy a Seitz.

As best I can tell from your photos, that's a broken cap jewel from the lower balance setting. I would obtain a donor movement to replace it. You'll need to identify the maker and caliber number of your movement. I think you'll be replacing the brass piece the jewel sits in together with the jewel. (I don't think they're meant to come apart from each other.)

I do see that the cap jewel is missing on the dial side but I can not tell from the bad picture of the jewel if it is the cap jewel, point your tweezer in a picture where it came from....is it an Elgin, American, Swiss ???
